About Zhineng Qigong

Zhineng Qigong, created by Dr. Pang Ming, blends ancient Chinese healing wisdom with modern science. It integrates movement, meditation, and mindfulness to cultivate and refine Qi within the body. These practices are designed to improve energy flow, balance emotions, and promote a sense of inner unity and well-being.

What is Zhineng Qigong?

Whether you are an experienced Qigong practitioner or have never done Qigong before, there is something here for you.

Zhineng Qigong focuses on the integration of the physical, emotional, and mental functions of the human body. The practices that will be shared during this event will help you develop an awareness of your own Qi and, with practice, you will discover how to move the Qi where it is most needed for the purposes of:

  • Physical healing
  • Emotional balancing
  • Expansion of consciousness

Most people find the practice to be elevating, inspirational, and relaxing — all at the same time.

level 1 Practices

Hold Qi Up/Pour Qi Down

Also know as Lift Qi Up/Pour Qi Down. This flowing, gentle movement practice draws Qi from the universe and directs it into the body, helping to nourish and heal. It is a foundational method for cultivating balance and replenishing energy levels.

Benefits of Lift Qi Up, Pour Qi Down include balancing and circulating Qi throughout the body, connecting with universal energy to replenish and harmonize internal Qi, clearing energy blockages which promotes better health and emotional well-being, and strengthening the energy field and cultivating awareness of the body-mind connection.

This practice is typically performed in a continuous, flowing sequence, and it can be adapted for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Chen Qi (Stretching Qi)

Chen Qi is an adaptable practice in Zhineng Qigong, suited for practitioners of all levels. It’s gentle enough for beginners, but experienced practitioners can increase its intensity by adjusting the speed of the movements. This method involves coordinated shoulder movements that gently massage the upper back, profoundly benefitting the heart and lungs and strengthening the immune system. It is one of the later methods developed by Dr. Pang Ming and was used extensively at the Hua Xia Centre to resolve all kinds of chronic and difficult heart, lung and immune system conditions.

Regular practice of Chen Qi may assist in releasing energy blockages and opening the body’s meridians, allowing Qi to flow freely. This practice emphasizes sinking Qi into the lower body and increasing the flow of energy to the fingertips, which helps activate and open the meridians in the hands, heightening your ability to sense and direct Qi. As you focus the Qi downward, your sensitivity to Qi and the skill to manipulate it improve.

La Qi (Pulling Qi)

La Qi is a simple but powerful practice in Zhineng Qigong designed to cultivate and circulate energy (Qi) between the hands and the body. “La” means “pull,” and the practice involves gently pulling Qi in and out, using the hands to direct energy flow.

La Qi enhances your ability to sense, gather, and direct Qi. It helps clear blockages, balance energy, and improve overall well-being by allowing you to interact directly with the flow of Qi in and around your body.

Three Centers Merge

Three Centers Merge is a standing meditation that draws the Qi of nature into the physical energy center of the body. This is a nourishing practice that develops the practitioner’s inner awareness and focus.

This practice will not be introduced in this workshop. Even though it is a Level 1 practice of Zhineng Qigong, it is considered a transitional practice for Level 1 students to go to Level 2 and is not suitable for beginners.

This workshop serves as a comprehensive introduction, preparing participants for deeper exploration of these practices in subsequent classes and workshops and as part of your own continuing practice. Each session will include guided practice, detailed instruction, and opportunities for questions and discussion.

Yes, and you aren’t alone! This is often considered a problem by people just starting out, but even though you cannot feel the Qi, it is moving and working. You can tell by how you feel emotionally. As your Qi becomes more activated, more balanced, you will experience feelings of joy, contentment, emotional stability, and relief.

No. People of all ability levels can participate. You must have access to a computer on the Internet and be able to login to the event.

Definitely yes! The focus of every aspect of this practice is inward — into the depths of who you really are. This is even true for elements that have a physical component. Individuals with a chronic illness, spinal injury, or other conditions which limit them from standing can visualize the practice while exploring the depths of the process within. We recommend that you advise the instructors of any limitations you have so that they can provide you with helpful guidance (anonymously, of course) during the sessions. Sometimes the lack of physical distraction provides a more profound experience.

Meet REyna

Reyna has studied Zhineng Qigong for 15+ years. She lovingly shares the wisdom of the practice with her students, readily supporting their intimate exploration of personal health and healing. Reyna firmly believes we each have a vast amount of energy readily available to us at any moment through any circumstance which is the catalyst for healing.

Born in Tijuana, Mexico, Reyna and her parents immigrated to the United States when she was three months old. Growing up, her parents instilled in her a strong work ethic, discipline, and a deep and lasting appreciation of her Mexican heritage. However, as she entered her youth, she felt a subtle but persistent emptiness. Deep within her there was a discontent that interfered with her innate joy and happiness, and something told her there was more. When she discovered Qigong, everything fell into place. This practice opened her both energetically and physically to new dimensions of herself! Nothing had the power to liberate and heal like this wisdom tradition of Chinese Medicine.

Reyna has now shared Zhineng Qigong in the US and Europe. She knows that her Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters could also benefit greatly from this work, and she plans to expand her offerings to include additional classes and programs taught in Spanish.
